Visvim’s Hiroki Nakamura Draws Inspiration From Daily Life
visvim – A Single-Minded Methodology
Founded in 2000 by Hiroki Nakamura, visvim focuses strongly on craftsmanship and carefully sourced materials. Influenced by global travel, especially classic Americana and Native American style, each impeccably made piece is packed with immense character.
As much as the visvim pieces may be very different in form, the driving force behind each product has stayed the same throughout. Along this journey it has often been necessary to look back in order to progress forward, which just might be the truest way to articulate the visvim concept.
visvim FW ’16 Collection
“This development process is nothing spectacular. There are however moments of discovery and excitement in the simple daily routine.
The color of the morning sun. The color of the sky.
An old album cover that suddenly catches my eye.
The color of the sweater being worn by my daughter.
The cloth covering my table in the atelier.
At that moment depending on the way I may see things (my perspective) these things become inspiration.
What's important is the choice I make on how I see certain things or think about certain things.”
Featured here are the visvim Iris Liner Jacket in black, Sanjuro Coat Silk Road in indigo and the Huron Mesh Moc-Folk (available in grey, brown and black). Hand-stitched from a combination of premium Swedish suede and lightweight mesh, these moccasin-style sneakers are a fusion of the classic visvim look with an added sporty, casual element.
