Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE label returns for the Fall 2015 season. Steering away from earlier heavy dependence on unequivocal visuals and colour schemes, the collection introduces a variety of neutral tones.
OFF-WHITE opens the doors of its new collection to tell, to discover. This year’s offering is comprised of a more sophisticated range of outerwear, marking this season as a great leap forward for the young label, in both scope and statement. This appears to be the most definitive and strongest collection yet since the brand’s inception.
Inspired by the recent events in Paris surrounding the Charlie Hebdo attacks for the Womens collection, Abloh conveyed his feelings by utilizing bold, graffiti-like slogans.
For Mens, the collection offers a very rugged appeal with a hiking and mountaineer appeal, inspired by designer Virgil Abloh’s trips to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Hence the collection's title: Don't Look Down. Abloh conceived a dude who aspires to the functional wabi-sabi of contemporary Japanese dressing, while keeping the essence of the great outdoor – the gray area between high fashion and street.
"Am I going too far making the things I love?" he says jokingly. If passion is any signal, he hasn't peaked just yet.
