Inspired off his latest obsession with Argentine-Italian artist — Lucio Fontana, Abloh personally cut the backs of stiff canvas coats that were sent down the runway in bright colour palettes of yellow, cyan and magenta. Something he did the night before the show, it was an exercise done to observe the art movement of Fontana’s signature “spatialism”. Best known for his monochrome canvases Concetti Spaziale, Fontana would cut or puncture, leaving distinctive slash marks and holes that imbue the finished work, all done in order to expose the dimensional space between the canvases.
