The official release of 13 of Andy Warhol’s screen tests, accompanied by new music composed by Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips (aka Dean & Britta). The film portraits include those of Edie Sedgwick, Nico, Mary Woronov, Lou Reed, Dennis Hopper, Billy Name and other assorted Superstars at their most beautiful (naturally), and the soundtrack is equally brilliant, featuring a stunning cover of the unreleased Velvet Underground track “I’m Not A Young Man Anymore”.

Goro’s

This is my humble collection of Goro’s – my favourite jeweller.
I have collected them over many trips to Tokyo.
Although I might not have gotten what I wanted every time I visited, I truly enjoyed the process of collecting.

IANN

This is a little old, but better late than never. Currently 3 issues deep, Iann is a great bi-annual joint publication by Foil and Iann Books and focuses mainly on the language of contemporary photography. Some of my favourites include Edward Burtynsky, Thomas Demand, Melanie Willhide and Anni Leppälä. Other artists featured include Peter Sutherland, Rinko Kawauchi etc.. It is interesting to see how some artists choose to express themselves to address certain social and political issues. The book is nicely printed on heavy paper stock and does well for the shelf.

Thomas Demand’s recreation of Obama’s Oval Office. The entire Oval Office has been meticulously recreated by Demand, from the ceiling to the carpet, all are made from various types of paper. Unreal!

Picked up this bandanna book recently. This book chronicles the bandanna collection of Kazuhiro Hirata of Kapital. This extensive fast color bandanna collection had taken the author more than 10 years to collect. The selection on display dates back to the 1600s, to the American Gold Rush period in the 1900s as well as the more recent ones. However, all text are in Japanese, but it does make for a great visual reference. Below are some images from the book.
