Trunks
June 24th, 2009

Manufacturing quality luggage and trunks since 1897 which has remained mostly unchanged, it’s shape and design is instantly recognizable. Although most of the Globe Trotter production colours are quite common, this 10 Corso Como edition is in a previously unavailable grey and black style and checks all the right boxes for me.

Pyramid studs have been rooted and identifiable with bikers and punks for decades. However these solid 925 silver pyramid studs produced by Andrew Bunney are presented in a new light, which reminds you of something familiar and yet very modern at the same time. Meticulously crafted by craftsmen in England, these are certified and hallmarked at the Assay Office London to assure quality. Upon closer inspection it could seen that much thought and care has gone into making these jewellery. The bespoke box that these come packaged in are really well made and looks good. Like all silver products, they will look even better when a patina has developed from prolonged use. Indeed a breath of fresh air in a market saturated by mass produced products. Scenes From The Counter Culture

hoppy 1

John “Hoppy” Hopkins – ’60s counter culture hero, who meticulously photographed and documented London’s cultural underground. As one of the key activists and catalysts of the ’60s scene, Hoppy has rubbed minds with the likes of Allen Ginsberg, photographed everyone from John Lennon to Malcolm X, set up the UFO Club (house band: Pink Floyd), and alongside Barry Miles (Indica owner), founded the revolutionary rag, International Times. His artistic and political statements – in freeing minds, will and senses – continue to resound in today’s cultural climate, while naturally, making for awesome artifacts.

hoppy 3

His retrospective, Against Tyranny, is now on at London’s IdeaGeneration Gallery.
